MusicomLab EFX MkII now version 3.0
by
David at Moonphase
on Tue 05 Jan 2010 19:55 GMT
All MusicomLab EFX MkII switching systems sent out from now on will be the latest v3.0. The operating manual for the v3.0 can be accessed here http://www.moonphase.co.uk/efxmkii_manual_ver30e.pdf
Updated: A note on connecting the power supply to the EFX MkII - if using a 12Vdc supply, the +ve/-ve polarity of the barrel jack tip & sleeve DOES NOT MATTER. The EFX MkII has a built-in full-wave rectifier so it can also accept a 9Vac supply. Whichever type of supply you use it should be capable of delivering 400mA continuously.

World's Highest Gig
by
David at Moonphase
on Fri 13 Nov 2009 14:54 GMT
The ‘Chasing Rainbows Tour 2009’ will see the band, Sound Driver, stage the first ever electric rock gig at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest freestanding mountain at an altitude of 5,895m (19,340ft). Summit Day & World Record Gig 22 February 2010. In doing this, members of the team plan to achieve some of their own personal ambitions and also break some world records on the way. Most significantly, it will be the world’s highest altitude electrical rock gig/musical performance ever held on land!
Their aim is to raise awareness of the work of cleft palate charity The Smile Train. George L's and Moonphase are very proud to be sponsoring the band by providing their audio cabling. For... the full article visit:http://www.chasingrainbowstour.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11

Beware "Special Offers" that aren't that special
by
David at Moonphase
on Sun 08 Nov 2009 21:06 GMT
I've been looking at some "special offers" out there, including one I found for the Keeley Compressor for £169-ish with "free delivery", what they only tell you in tiny print is that you have to add VAT. Sellers to the retail market are supposed to include VAT in all their pricing, but some don't bother for some reason. You might think this is to dupe the unwary into thinking their prices are lower than they are, or maybe to get better hits through search engines and comparison sites, I couldn't possibly comment. When VAT is added, and if you bother to read your credit card bill, your "special offer" price suddenly jumps to £195, not £169. Given that we sell the same pedal for £189 with Royal Mail Special Delivery and VAT included as our REGULAR price, and all our pedal prices already include delivery and VAT, we would strongly advise you to read the small print (and it is often quite small) very carefully before jumping at "bargains" that may not be what they first appear. Caveat emptor.

Buffer v Bypass article from Gutar Buyer Magazine
by
David at Moonphase
on Mon 02 Nov 2009 12:13 GMT
If you're an effects pedal user you absolutely MUST read this article! It was written by Dan Steinhardt of www.TheGigRig.com and published in Guitar Buyer Magazine issue 97 www.guitarbuyermag.com recently. I have already referred countless people to this article to explain the differences between, and applications of, true bypass and buffered pedals. We have very kindly been given permission by Dan and Guitar Buyer Magazine to re-publish the article, so, please visit http://www.robertkeeley.co.uk/GB97buffers.pdf and learn everything you need to know on the subject.

Rob Harris ( http://www.myspace.com/robharrisgtr & jamiroquai.com ) has just taken delivery of his second Moonphaser, now there's one on both pedalboards! Rob uses the Moonphaser and his wide collection of Keeley pedals on any number of Jamiroquai tracks; "Runaway - Live from Abbey Road" is a great example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzyj3Wxhjr4
Hope you have a great time at the Jamiroquai gig at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend Rob!

TS9-808 v TS9 mod plus
by
David at Moonphase
on Fri 23 Oct 2009 10:01 BST
Hopefully to clear up the confusion I caused by naming it the TS9-808 years ago, this model is known in the USA as the TS9 Mod Plus or TS9 Mod +. They are all exactly the same pedal. All the Keeley effects pedals we sell in the UK are the exact same models as sold in the USA, they are all new production (modded or built in the USA) with the latest features. If you have any questions please let us know!

Delivery during possible Royal Mail strike action
by
David at Moonphase
on Wed 21 Oct 2009 10:24 BST
For anyone who's worried about the possibility of strikes delaying their delivery: We have found in the past that effects pedals and other items that we send by either Special Delivery or International Signed-For (if you're outside the UK) tend to get through with little or no delay. This is because Royal Mail sends their managers out to handle these deliveries as they are under contract to deliver them in a set time. RM have indicated that this will be the case should there be a strike this week. First class items may be delayed for a couple of days if a strike does take place. Everything we have sent out recently to UK addresses has arrived next day as expected.
If you're considering ordering but are worried about how we will deliver to you, please email, or phone us on +44 (0)1223 841035.

by

on Fri 09 Oct 2009 12:46 BST
Usually I'm happier when a spacecraft doesn't crash into the moon, but this time I'm glad it did. Congratulations to NASA's Ames Research Center and everyone involved in the project for hitting the target! We're eagerly looking forward to the results here in Cambridge.

That old digital v analogue debate - a frivolous thought
by
David at Moonphase
on Thu 11 Jun 2009 11:59 BST
A debate that of course has no logical end and no single "right answer" because we're all different, but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun with it. I saw an ad in the guitar press recently for a digital, menu-driven piece of equipment and it immediately made me think of a tag line for one of my own analogue pedals: "The Moonphaser uses an interface based on rotating knobs, so you can create professional guitar sounds in 1 second or less." Sorry, I couldn't resist.

George L. Lewis dies
by
David at Moonphase
on Tue 26 May 2009 09:21 BST
Madison, TN -- We are sad to announce that George L. Lewis, industry pioneer and founder of George L's, has passed away. He died Friday afternoon with his family by his side. Lewis founded George L's more than 30 years ago, introducing the world to the notion that high-quality cables are an important part of good tone. A pioneer in making high-end instrument cables available to a broad range of musicians, George L's was one of the first companies to offer low-capacitance, easy-to-use cable kits. Lewis had also been part-owner of GHS String Co. and Sho-bud Steel Guitar. He was a great influence in the steel guitar community. Lewis kept George L's a family business with the help of wife Mona and daughters Kim and Lisa. The company is known for a warm, family-style ethos that imbues all aspects of its operations; anyone who visits the company's NAMM booth or telephones the office is greeted with gracious hospitality. Prior to his work in the musical instruments industry, Lewis served his country on the USS West Virginia and survived the Pearl Harbor attack.

Back up and running
by
David at Moonphase
on Thu 05 Feb 2009 10:31 GMT
Things are steadily getting sorted out after the fire; everyone's back at work in an alternative building and pedals are back in production. There is some work to do to clear the backlog that built up when work had to stop and that is being done now. We have pedals in stock here (if our webstore allows you to order a pedal then it is available) and ready to post out. If we are out of stock of anything you want please email or phone us for the latest lead time and to reserve what you want.

Fire update
by
David at Moonphase
on Sat 17 Jan 2009 13:40 GMT
Despite the terrible news yesterday it appears that things are nowhere near as bad as they could have been. The word from Keeley USA today is that completed dealer stock (including ours) was essentially untouched by the fire except for some smoke damage to that requires reboxing. Also unmodded Boss and Ibanez pedal stock was unharmed.
This should mean that pedals start flowing this way again in the very near future rather than us having the long delay we might have expected.
We are still keeping the shopping cart closed for Keeley pedals over the weekend until the situation is completely clear. Please watch this space for more news.

Fire at Keeley USA
by
David at Moonphase
on Fri 16 Jan 2009 18:42 GMT
We have some very sad news today; there has been a fire at Keeley Electronics USA (the source of all Keeley pedals) that has destroyed their Oklahoma factory. For the local news story please see http://newsok.com//article/3338278
For anybody who has a pedal on order from us and is awaiting delivery, we have not be able to get in touch with anyone in the USA yet to find out the situation regarding the condition of an order of pedals that was due to fly over this week. We hope to have some firm news very soon. Our sincerest apologies to anyone whose delivery is delayed, we will be emailing you all individually as more information becomes available.
In the interim we felt it was best to disable our online shopping cart system to prevent new customer orders being placed until we know for certain what the position is. You can of course still order George L's cables, the Moonphaser and all non-Keeley products from our sites.
If you have any questions about existing or future orders please email us at sales@robertkeeley.co.uk
The good news is that nobody was hurt in the fire. Our thoughts are with all the staff at Keeley Electronics Inc. and we send them all our best wishes for a swift re-opening of the business.
